M. Bradford Moody - Of Counsel

Brad Moody graduated from Rice University and the University of Texas School of Law. He began his law practice with the Washington, D.C., office of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld in 1983 as an associate. From 1988 until 1996, he worked for Pennzoil Company, first as Attorney and later Senior Attorney. From 1996 until 2000, he worked for Belco Oil & Gas Corp., first as Senior Attorney and later Vice-President, Legal and Land. In 2000, Mr. Moody returned to private practice, concentrating in the fields of oil and gas, oil and gas litigation, and renewable energy development.

Mr. Moody is licensed to practice in Texas by the Supreme Court of Texas and in New Mexico by the Supreme Court of New Mexico.

  • Represented solar and wind power developers in connection with successful development and sale of Gulf Wind (283 MW-Kenedy County, TX), Argonne Mesa (90 MW-Guadalupe County, NM), Kumeyaay (50 MW-Campo Indian Reservation, CA), Bull Creek (180 MW-Borden County, TX), Mesquite Creek (200 MW) and Lamesa (50 MW Phase I-Dawson County, TX) renewable energy projects
  • Represented multiple landowners in connection with negotiation of wind lease and easement agreements for development of Wake Wind Energy Center (257 MW-Crosby and Floyd Counties, Texas)
  • Represented multiple landowners in connection with Solar Energy Lease Agreements for potential development of projects in Crosby County, TX (100 MW) and Santa Fe County, NM (100 MW)
  • Represented oil and gas exploration company in connection with management and sale of non-operated joint venture assets in Utica Shale play, Monroe County, Ohio
  • Represented Gulf of Mexico non-operator in connection with multiple agreements for joint development and operation of adjoining but separately owned discoveries in Keithley Canyon area.
  • Represented deepwater Gulf of Mexico host platform owner negotiating production handling agreement with multiple lease owners seeking platform space and processing for new discoveries in Mississippi Canyon area.
  • Represented oilfield products company in negotiation of product sale and IP licensing agreement covering innovative valve technology used in hydrofracturing oil and gas wells
  • Represented oil companies and oilfield service companies in drafting and negotiating master service and supply agreements, drilling contracts and related indemnity and insurance contracts for domestic, maritime and international activities
  • Represented oil and gas operator in dispute with drilling contractor over enforceability of “loss of hole” indemnity under the Texas Oil Field Anti-Indemnity Act
  • Represented oil and gas exploration company in state district court lawsuit for breach of contract and warranty in connection with defective casing sold by oilfield supply company
  • Represented land owner pursuing claims against the Federal Aviation Administration in connection with breach of lease and inverse condemnation resulting from wind power development and “no presumed hazard” determinations under 14 CFR Part 77
  • Represented wind power developer before the Texas Public Utility Commission in connection with establishment of Panhandle Competitive Renewable Energy Zones
